Die Alternative zu Windows 7: Schweizer Doku-Clip über Linux Alle Welt spricht von Windows 7. Wer weiss jedoch, wie ein aktueller Linux Desktop aussieht? Ein Filmteam aus der Schweizer Open Source Szene ging dieser Frage nach. Das Resultat zeigt, dass Linux durchaus eine Alternative zu proprietären Betriebssystemen darstellt: www.youtube.com Zum Inhalt des Films «USUSv2»: Passanten sind eingeladen worden ein neues Betriebssystem zu testen. Es wurde ihnen dabei im Vorfeld verschwiegen, um welches Produkt es sich handelt. Jeder Testperson wurde das System kurz live vorgeführt, die Neuerungen gegenüber alten Lösungen erläutert und einen Einblick in die Philosophie gewährt. Danach hatten die Teilnehmer die Gelegenheit die Software selbstständig auszuprobieren und offene Fragen durch die Moderatorin beantworten zu lassen. Erst am Schluss nach der Abgabe ihres Statements, wurde ihnen mitgeteilt, dass sie ihre Klicks auf einem Linux (Ubuntu Netbook Remix) ausgeführt hatten. Praktisch alle Testpersonen zogen nach diesem Überblick eine positive Bilanz und könnten sich vorstellen das Open Source Betriebssystem Linux zu Hause einzusetzen. Grosse Anerkennung finden einerseits die schon bekannten Punkte: dass Linux für jeden gratis erhältlich ist, nicht Viren-anfällig ist und alle installierte Software regelmässig automatisch aktualisiert wird.
